Famously Fast Pickup

 

The Project Overview

Famous Footwear launched Buy Online Pickup In-Store in 2016. As part of the e-commerce replatform, we had the opportunity to rebuild the experience to be brand agnostic. With COVID-19, we needed to quickly expand our pickup functionality to include Curbside. We updated the copy on the existing site to add curbside verbiage. We spoke with our store associates to get real customer feedback.

 

Store Pickup For the Customer

We were able to use a lot of the existing logic and wireframes from our previous implementation. But my goals for improving the UI were:

  1. Simplify the messaging

  2. Make the experience cohesive

The new updates allow for the customer to quickly recognize where she can pickup her shoe(s). Once she places her order, she receives an email confirmation that she can use to notify her store when she’s outside ready for curbside delivery.

Store Pickup for the Store Associate

After the customer notifies the store that she is in the parking lot waiting for Curbside Pickup, the associate’s iPad will sound off a Doorbell. A native modal will display and when the associate clicks through, a car icon shows the associate which order to deliver outside. Tapping on the order line opens a drawer with the full order’s details (pickup person, car, and items in order). This helps the associate respond quickly and seamlessly throughout the store.
